When to schedule a liner replacement in North Carolina
A pool liner can be changed in any reasonably mild stretch of the year here, but the timing is not neutral. Vinyl is more flexible when it is warm, and a liner that is installed in warmer weather settles into the corners and the floor more easily than one fitted in the cold. Spring, summer and early fall is the ideal time for installation.
The proper sequence is to have the new liner measured, ordered and in hand before the pool is drained, so the changeover is continuous. Ideally a pool should not be left empty and waiting without a liner.
Liner thickness
Liners are manufactured in different thicknesses, usually measured in mils. We offer a 20 mil liner, a blended 27/20 mil liner and a 27 mil liner — the thickest option.

What sits behind the liner
A liner replacement is typically the only time you can get a clear look at the existing structure of your pool. With the old pool liner removed we can see the wall panels and the pool floor. If there are issues upon liner removal, they can be addressed. We check the liner track that holds the liner bead, the steps, and the gaskets at every skimmer, return and light.
Problems found at this stage are straightforward to deal with because the pool is empty and everything is reachable. The same problems found later, with a new liner already in and the pool full, are not as easily addressed.

We come out, measure the pool properly, look at the coping, the steps and the fittings, talk through pattern and thickness options with you, and then provide the homeowner with a written estimate.
